A personal perspective

Let’s continue getting to know Creed’s iconic fragrances. Green Irish Tweed is one of those men’s perfumes that people talk about a lot and have known for years. What can I say? Yes, it’s good — there’s no denying that.

Fresh, lively, a fougère through and through. There’s plenty to enjoy in it. Wonderful for summer. For warm weather in general, really: spring, summer, autumn while it’s still warm — just right. A very good, well-made fragrance that I can easily imagine wearing in all sorts of situations.

Longevity on me, though, is middling. Four or five hours, somewhere around that. I won’t claim it lasts longer: perhaps something remains on the skin afterwards, but I have to bring my nose right up close to smell it. At a distance, I hardly notice it after that time. To me, it’s more of a light fragrance, and I don’t expect it to keep going all day.

As with any other perfume, you need to try it on yourself. You may like it, or it may not suit you at all. A fragrance develops differently on everyone, so start with a sample, take your time wearing it, and only then draw your conclusions.

If you decide to buy a bottle, bear in mind that genuine Creed is expensive. You can find more affordable fragrances in a similar vein, but they won’t be Creed. As the Ukrainian saying goes, ‘we have what we have’.

There’s no shortage of talk about formula changes either: what it used to be like, what it’s like now, which year smelled better. But I’d go by the fragrance you’re trying now and how it feels to you personally.

If you get along with Green Irish Tweed and want to keep it in your collection — why not? It comes down to personal taste and how much you want it in your own life.
